Mother's Day is a day for cherishing those golden moments that you've spent together with your mom.  Every year, my mom and I make a table full of snacks and settle in to watch some our all time favorite movies. This year for Mother’s Day, why not rent some of the classic ‘mom’ movies, and spend some time bonding. Don’t forget the popcorn and the tissues; these ten movies are guaranteed to make you laugh and cry, and occasionally do both at the same time!
 
1.    Stepmom – A dying mom (Susan Sarandon) decides to put her dislike for her husband’s new wife (Julia Roberts) aside in order to teach her how to be a good mom to her two children. Along the way, she learns to accept the new woman in her husband’s life, and to make the most of the time she has left. 
 
2.    Mildred Pierce – A cinematic masterpiece chronicling the life of a struggling business woman and her spoiled daughter. Mildred Pierce (Joan Crawford) tries her best to give her daughter everything, but it never seems to be enough.
 
3.    Mask -- A heartwarming story of a facially deformed teenage boy and his motorcycle gang mother (Cher). Rocky Dennis faces all the trials and tribulations of being accepted as a ‘normal’ boy as his mother fights to make people see the inner beauty in her special son.
 
4.    Baby Boom – Diane Keaton plays a workaholic New Yorker who is left as the guardian of an angelic toddler. Giving up corporate life to move to the country, she makes the ultimate sacrifice and finds where she really belongs.
 
5.    The Sound Of Music – Roger’s and Hammerstein’s stunning musical about a nanny (Julie Andrews) who falls in love with a widow and his six children. Based on the true story of an Austrian family who escaped the Nazis and fled to the United States during World War II.
 
6.    Erin Brokovich – Julia Robert’s is Erin Brokovich, an unemployed single mother who becomes a legal assistant and almost single-handedly brings down a California power company accused of polluting a city's water supply. Based on the real life of the feisty whistleblower.
 
7.    Not Without My Daughter – Betty Mahamoody (Sally Field) is an American woman who travels to Iran with her Persian husband, and then learns of his plans to keep them there. She soon discovers that she has no legal right to take her five year old daughter back to the U.S. Unwilling to leave her daughter, they attempt a harrowing escape through the mountains of Iran into Turkey. Based on a true story, and adapted from the bestselling novel.
 
 
8.    Mommy Dearest – Joan Crawford (played by Faye Dunaway) is as mean as they come in this tell all of the Hollywood icon. The film depicts the real life abusive and traumatic adoptive upbringing of Christina Crawford at the hands of her screen legend mother.
 
9.    Imitation of Life -- A struggling young white actress with a six-year-old daughter sets up housekeeping with a homeless black widow and her light-skinned eight-year-old daughter who rejects her mother by trying to pass for white.
 
10.  Gypsy –Based on the Broadway hit about the life and times of burlesque dancer Gypsy Rose Lee (Natalie Wood) and her aggressive stage mother, Mama Rose (Rosalind Russell). Filled with fantastic music by Stephen Sondheim.
